Must-see TV

by @ 7:59 am on 14 June 2006.

Dammit! Last night PBS broadcast “The Real Dirt on Farmer John,” a documentary about Illinois farmer John Peterson. He wears boas to drive his tractor, eats dirt from his fields with gusto, was long treated as a Satan-worshipper by his neighbors, and yet has created a thriving shareholder farm business called Angelic Organics.

I thought it was on tonight and was all excited, but Potato Non Grata checked and we’ve missed it. This Independent Lens episode will be repeated on KQED on Thursday, June 22, at 11 p.m. in the Bay Area, however — I can’t wait.

View the trailer here at the Farmer John website. Find out when it’s on in your area.

Pike Place market had a benefit viewing scheduled on June 24 but the event no longer appears on their website. The Seattle public television affiliates already aired the film, so I’ll catch it on DVD.
