Michael Pollan vs. Fake Right-Wing Pundit

pollancolbert.jpgMichael Pollan was on The Colbert Report Thursday night, with a repeat that we caught on Friday.

[DQ says: The interview is available in Windows Media (WMV) format on Comedy Central’s site here, but Macs need a plug-in to view it and it’s jumpy even on a DSL connection.]

Perhaps the best part was when Colbert brought out different foods and Pollan declared each food to be corn. (I’m glad that Pollan also mentioned the 19th-century Irish and the potato famine; the Butter Bitch and I both have Irish ancestors who were affected by the famine.)

It is no mean feat to go up against a fake right-wing pundit and stay on message, but Michael did an admirable job.

Colbert, of course, had the last word. “Mmm. High-fructose corn syrup,” he said after a commercial break as he faked taking a long draw off a soda.
