Afternoon snack

(Just added) The Independent: The U.K. food police — oops sorry, food detectives — visit the reporter’s kitchen and evaluate her supplies from a sustainable/organic point of view. During June in England, a group called Anti-Apathy is conducting a London-based social experiment called Reality Bites, which will follow 12 participants “as they explore the issues surrounding, and their own attitudes to, food produced in an environmentally friendly way.” Why bother, when they could just read our blog? ;-)

The Tenessee Leaf-Chronicle: Organic vegetables are “growing on” locals in Clarksville, TN, of all places, where the minister’s wife got the idea to start a CSA. This article is a trip: the minister says “people need to reclaim the soil and realize their bodies are God’s temples. People are healthier and feel better when they’re not eating foods tainted with pesticides.” Despite the wacky scientific reporting, we say, “Amen!”

Washington Post: Cowgirl Creamery opens an outpost of its artisanal cheese store in Washington, DC — its first outside Northern California. Mmmmm…..Mt. Tam cheese.

Metro Silicon Valley: Why buying local conventional produce is a better idea than buying organic from overseas.

Horsefeathers! Austin’s Central Market’s been carrying Mt. Tam for months, at least!

  2. DairyQueen Says:

Yes, quite a few people carry Cowgirl’s cheese, but I think this is only the second dedicated *store.*
