Outstanding in the Field is coming to Austin

283.jpgWould you like to go on a Very Ethicurean culinary adventure? Try eating food from the farm, at the farm -- it can't get much more local than that!

Outstanding in the Field North American farm tour is coming to Boggy Creek Farm in Austin, TX, on Sunday, September 24. Farmers Larry Butler and Carol Ann Sayles will be hosting a truly unique meal with food from Boggy Creek as well as other local farms and artisans. Chef Terry Conlan from Lake Austin Spa Resort will be preparing the meal.

The brainchild of Jim Denevan, former executive chef of Gabriella Cafe in Santa Cruz, Outstanding in the Field began as a series of dinners prepared at the restaurant with locally sourced food -- with the farmers as guests. Denevan soon found himself thinking, "Why not bring people to the farm?"

Austin is the 7th stop this summer for the North American Farm tour. The menu, which is included in this post, is saliva-inducing -- however, it is a tentative menu, as the chef will cook strictly what is available that afternoon from the farm.

According to the site, Ethicurean rock star Alice Waters called Outstanding in the Field "the restaurant I always imagined!"
