Mother Jones: Interview with director (and vegetarian) Richard Linklater about making “Fast Food Nation,” and battling the shadow forces employed by McDonald’s to discredit the movie. The fast-food chain actually hired the same people behind the Swift Boat campaign!

San Francisco Chronicle: At last, the smoking pig has been found — investigators have matched E. coli samples from the spinach outbreak to some taken from the gut of a wild hog.

USA Today: Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm is against the mandatory animal-identification system proposed by the USDA, and so are a bunch of other small farmers. Some are even hurling manure at officials in protest.
