Alice Waters on Iconoclasts tonight

by @ 6:05 pm on 2 November 2006.

misha_alice.jpgTonight’s installment in the Sundance Channel’s Iconoclasts series features Alice Waters and Mikhail Baryshnikov. Iconoclasts takes leaders in separate fields who are actually friends with each other; they spend the show hanging out and trying to explain what makes the other tick. One episode from last season made a big impression on me: Michael Stipe (a long-ago hero of mine, as R.E.M. was my first concert) and celebrity chef Mario Batali. I’ll never forget how dorky-cute Stipe looked dancing to his favorite song at a U2 concert, or Batali’s naked scorn at a vegan dinner party.

Anyway, set your TiVo or tune in at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific as Alice and Misha — the sexiest short man alive, IMHO — discuss their philosophies of art, food, teaching and community with visits to New York’s Baryshnikov Arts Center, the Edible Schoolyard Project in Berkeley and dine at my favorite local restaurant, Chez Panisse.

Thank you so much for the heads up. I watched it, and it was absolutely fantastic. I’m not erasing it from my DVR ever.
