Food Blog Awards accepting nominations

Um…[throat clearing, foot shuffling]…the Well Fed Network is looking for nominations for the 2006 Food Blog Awards. The awards were started by the Accidental Hedonist, back when the WFN belonged to Kate Hopkins, as a way to get more attention for what used to be a very small group of folks. Kinda hard to believe now that the Julia & Julia project is going to be a major motion picture, and it seems like every restaurant meal includes at least one food blogger taking a picture and annoying everyone else, right?

Anyway, as the number of food bloggers has mushroomed, the awards have gotten bigger too. A very nice person — who is not related to us in any way, and we didn’t bribe her either … thanks Emily! — has nominated us for best group food blog, which is incredibly flattering as at just over six months old, we’re barely crawling compared to fellow nominees Slashfood and others. Other categories, shamelessly edited for pertinence, include Writing, Humor, Photography, Best New Food Blog, Best Blog Covering the Food Industry, Best Theme, etc.

Nominations will close on Friday, December 15, at midnight. The list of nominations is public, and perusing it is guaranteed to broaden your blog-reading horizons.

Update: The Well Fed site appears to be temporarily down, perhaps overwhelmed by the legions of Ethicurean readers pouring over there?
