The Ethicurean Calendar: The Mackey-Pollan chat

by @ 12:01 am on 30 January 2007.

Tickets for the Feb. 27 presentation on “The Past, The Present, The Future of Food” by Whole Foods founder/CEO John Mackey, followed by the much-anticipated discussion with “Omnivore’s Dilemma” author Michael Pollan, become available Thursday.

Thankfully, perhaps heeding warnings that legions of foodie hooligans might trample each other, the Knight Program has decided to charge $5 (free for Berkeley students) and release them through the Zellerbach Hall ticket office not only via in-person purchase, but also online or by phone (510-642-9988). Wheeler Hall, where the event is taking place, holds about 900 people; those who can’t face the bridge traffic (é tu, Bruce?) can watch a live webcast here on the night of the event.

The Ethicurean Calendar: Realizing that must-see events like this are probably taking place all over the country, we’ve put together a beta version of an Ethicurean calendar. Pollan, for example, is also speaking in Colorado on February 8. You can view the calendar here if you have a free Google account, or just add the RSS feed to your other subscriptions. (There are permanent links on the home page, lefthand rail.)

It’s pretty Bay Area–centric right now, but if you know of other events around the U.S., e-mail me the details and I’ll add them.
