Two of my favorite food reporters will be kicking off National Library Week tonight (7 p.m., April 12) at the Oakland Museum of California: Michael Pollan, author of “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” and Carol Ness, the San Francisco Chronicle reporter who has been covering every aspect of SOLE food in the Bay Area since long before we could even define the pieces of our favorite acronym. Chances are good that Ness will engage Pollan on the most pressing topics in food politics as well as dig in to what it’s like for a journalist to be elevated to being the guru leader of a new social movement.
The event will be held at the James Moore Theatre, 10th & Oak Streets. There are no advance reservations and no tickets, but I have a feeling that there’s also not going to be the same sort of moshpit, free-for-all turnout as previous Pollan appearances have attracted. He will sign books and organically grown vegetables afterward, but only if they’re local and in season.
Kidding, people.

Ah, I wish I could be there. I’ve just completed the OD - fascinating book. Makes me think twice about everything I put into my body…this coming from a longtime healthy eater.
