Walking on (Debon)air

by @ 4:30 pm on 6 August 2007.

We have noticed rather belatedly that alternative men’s magazine Debonair named us "Best Eco-friendly Food Blog" in its Food Blog Awards. While this is somewhat like getting an Oscar in the expansive category "Best Musical Starring an Albino Midget," we’re nonetheless flattered to be given a place on the menu alongside flogosphere giants such as David Lebovitz, Chocolate and Zucchini, and 101 Cookbooks.

The judge was Joseph Campanale, a sommelier at Babbo restaurant in addition to Debonair’s food and wine editor. His description of us:

Have your cake (or steak) and feel good about it too! The Ethicurean is defined as “someone who seeks out tasty things that are also sustainable, organic, local and ethical. SOLE food, for short.” This blog links to articles from other reputable publications and has fascinating original content.

Alas, the last two activities are often an either/or proposition, but we hope to adjust the balance soon.

I’ll bet you’re one happy albino midget!
    Congrats!

  2. Alyson Says:

Congratulations on the honor, I love your site! Have you heard about the Eat Well Guide’s Tour Across America? The group Sustainable Table is traveling cross-country in search for the best sustainable restaurants and farms, as well as the best pie in America! Their travels seem pretty interesting. Kudos on the honor! You continue to do such an impressive job. Best of all, you didn’t have to buy an expensive outfit and sit through a long awards ceremony. Rock on, Garth!!

    Thanks everybody!

Shelly: as you know we are a TEAM of albino midgets.

Alyson: We actually posted about the Eatwell tour in advance here, and enjoyed our time on the bus. We (heart) Sustainable Table.

Wendy: Inspired by this link from an Ethicurean commenter, I made an evening gown out of plastic bags. And now I’ll never get a chance to wear it!
