Pollan paintings 1: Children of the corn

Life is full of compromises, particularly if you have a kindergartener living in the house. On a recent stormy weekend, I made the grand announcement that I was going to read all weekend long and that it was everybody’s job to take care of me. That plan lasted about ten minutes. My son Frederick was antsy to paint pictures with me. We reached a compromise: I would read a chapter and he would work on a painting inspired by that chapter.

I was reading Michael Pollan’s "The Omnivore’s Dilemma" in anticipation of his new work, "In Defense of Food," and Bonnie’s upcoming Q&A. Guess which section inspired this painting:
