Are you listening, USDA? Farmers don’t want to play NAIS

NAIS, creamed: Richard Oswald at the excellent rural news site Daily Yonder summarizes the government's proposed animal-tagging system, NAIS, and details all the hostile responses to it at the USDA's recent Jefferson City, MO, "listening session." One of small farmers' main complaints is that they will have to pay to register and tag every individual animal, while large producers can get by with one lot tag for an entire shedful of thousands of animals. Oswald's roundup of quotes from angry farmers is a must-read. (Daily Yonder)
