    Hypocrites. If they really cared for animals, they wouldn't be raising them for food. All this bogus talk is just part of their marketing to make people buy their pseudo-ethical products.

    Like the American Indians who gave thanks to the animals that they hunted and killed for their food, we can also raise and eat meat as long as it is done with love and care. In his essay on "The Pleasures of Eating" http://www.ecoliteracy.org/publications/rsl/wendell-berry.html respected farmer/author Wendell Berry put it well in his statement "The thought of the good pasture and of the calf contentedly grazing flavors the steak. Some, I know, will think of it as bloodthirsty or worse to eat a fellow creature you have known all its life. On the contrary, I think it means that you eat with understanding and with gratitude."

    They were just sad because the cow died before they had a chance to make any money off of her. Their talk of sorrow is just marketing, or sadness at loss of profit.
